In the Office of Alumni Relations at Brown, we develop and offer a variety of career tools and programs that serve both alumni and students as they prepare for their life beyond Brown. Dani has been our featured speaker for a regional alumni program entitled “Career Transitions” and was very well received by the attending audience (~30 attendees, recent grads to 30+ years out). In addition, with our mentoring program, we piloted a “Mentor Training” workshop in the fall which was very well received by seasoned as well as first time mentors – Through this mentoring program, Dani offered 3 workshops for mentees (senior class women) which have included a number of issues, including professional etiquette, making the most out of a mentoring relationship, effective interviewing skills and successful networking. These are challenging issues for students to face, particularly in this economy, and student feedback has indicated that Dani has been successful in relating to student concerns/fears/insecurities, delivering valuable information and in the end, helping them feel more confident and polished re: their own “professional skills” awareness.
